The shooter who killed two children and injured at least 17 others has been identified as Robin Westman and police are investigating a series of YouTube videos shared on his account hours before the shooting, according to a report by the New York Post, which cited law enforcement forces.

I think I have seen every community on the internet claim some aspect of this murderer as evidence their enemy inspired it. 

I work in Minneapolis with an old friend of the shooter, he played in the playground at the school growing up where the shooter went to school, he told me who they were when he saw the notebook with the screed in it from the stickers on it. He said he studied Russian from a young age. Not sure how much influence it had on the murders. 

I think he was just basically a soup of violent internet ideologies with access to guns. It wasn’t coherent, obviously, he was fucking insane and shot 20 kids praying at mass.

We never had access to the firearms available in the USA and after one school shooting the laws were made even stricter.

The weapons are part of the nations business model! We sell weapons to other nations so how in the hell do people expect a weapons ban in the country?!?!?! What we need are "community armories" and mandate that ALL automatic weapons be stored there and checked out for use on SANCTIONED rifle ranges only, while allowing every homeowner/adult ONE HANDGUN to be kept in their home for the sake of protection. In the military, you arent allowed to store weapons nor ammo in the barracks, at least when I was enlisted. This, to me, is a sensible and reasonable approach.

I don’t know what the answer to the gun violence problem is in this country but as someone who owns a firearm I would turn it in a heartbeat to make this stop. 

At minimum we need common sense gun laws. End the gun show loophole. End private sales without having a reputable shop involved. Want to sell your firearm? You have to meet at a shop. Pay them a fee. They run the background check and make sure everything is legit. 

You need to have a license to own a car and insurance. No one complains. You should have to have a license to own a firearm and should have to renew it annually. Own a firearm and you became a felon guess what you can’t renew and have to turn in your guns.

And that’s just the absolute minimum but all we get is thoughts and prayers and nothing changes. 

Changes should have happened before Sandy Hook and here we are 13 years later watching the same terror unfold every year if not multiple times a year.

Thank you for sharing. I am so horrified to hear about this, sad for the children and families. I drove by, saw over 20 police and troopers driving to the scene and wondered what happened. I appreciate the fast updates here, and am beyond mortified to see this is what the first day of school looks like for minnesota families

I'm completely numb to shootings anymore and that is horrifying.  Nothing will change.    Now is not the time for politics is what they will say, but it is the time to make sure we know who the killer voted for.  This shit is exhausting.
